Pets as Fashion Accessories?

The rich and famous are known for starting all types of trends and one of the latest is using pets for fashion accessories. Famous for nothing Paris Hilton and pop starlet Britney Spears are just a few of the individuals in the limelight carrying small pocket sized pets as accessories. However, while this trend seems to be taking off and many stars as well as the not so famous have purchased pets to accessorize their wardrobes it really is not a trend that the general population should follow. The reason why is that pets should be purchased for companionship and to love and not to accessorize with.

Responsible Pet Owners don't Accessorize

Pets have their own personalities and for pets to really get along with their owners the owner must choose their future pet wisely. This takes time and consideration and a future pet owner must consider their schedule, space, and type of animal that would best get along with them.

Choosing a small pet just because it is easy to carry and complements your new sweater is not the way to go about choosing a pet. In fact, this can result in a pet ownership that is not beneficial to the pet owner or the pet.

When looking for a pet think of how much time and dedication you have for walking it, feeding it, and all the other responsibilities that come along with owning a pet. If you don't want to be involved in all of the responsibilities being a pet owner entails then you should reconsider buying a pet to haul along with you on outings just to make you look cool. Pets are not fashion accessories, but rather a big responsibility and should be considered as such.
